What are they? They are smurfs.
Definition of Smurf In League of Legends parlance, “it’s not a small blue person” refers to a secondary account held by a player whose current elo is far higher than the player’s own. They’re called smurfs, and some gamers say they disrupt the fun by appearing in games when they shouldn’t. Since smurfs’ first games were typically played against, and ultimately smashed, irons, this may be the case.
And what did Riot do, exactly? What did it imply when they took out everything and then introduced smurf queue? The very first thing that has crossed your mind. Yes. So that novice players don’t get irritated by constantly being hammered, the smurfs in this queue are being added so that every smurf will (or at least should be) matched against other smurfs.
Just how does one join the smurf queue? They haven’t said much, but it has to have something to do with account level, since a level 30 account that begins ranking right away will be placed in smurf queue and forced to play against lower-leveled players and, in some cases, boosters.
Also normal games now count also for the mmr of your placements, so the higher wins you get till level 30, higher mmr will be the games on your placements.
It’s hard for new players to get good results on their placements, because with this new system even if you have a lot of loses on leveling to 30 you will still be added to smurf queue, Riot should fix this and make smurf queue for real smurfs instead of adding everyone to this queue.
